Ways to make use of Additional Shortcodes

There are many ways you can make use of these shortcodes. You can automatically customize the content of a page for a specific user in a specific moment. This can hugely increase the chances they will convert to a customer. Here are a few examples:

• If a visitor has a certain item in their cart, you can suggest related items to add before checkout.
• If a visitor happens to click on their cart page, and they have not added any products, instead of just telling them ‘your cart is empty’ (which may be obvious to them) you can load products on the page. Then they can shop right from that page without having to search elsewhere or wait for another page to load.
• If a visitor is logged in to your site, but has never purchased a product, they are demonstrating heightened intent to purchase. They are likely almost ready to purchase, they may just need a nudge. You can nudge them with a discount that is not available to the general public.

Customizations like these can be highly effective. And they are automated, once you set them up, you don’t have to think about them again.

• Provides a shortcode which will simply list all the featured downloads, without the need to enter any IDs.

• Displays “Coming Soon” or the Custom Status text instead of the price when using the [downloads] shortcode, and anywhere else where the edd_price() function has been called.
• Prevents the coming soon download from being purchased. The plugin will remove the purchase button and stop the download from being added to cart via the edd_action. Eg ?edd_action=add_to_cart&download_id=XXX

It works by using the customer’s email that they used to purchase your product, and checking it against Gravatar.com. Only unique email addresses are used, so if a customer purchases your product more than once, it will only show their Gravatar once.

To show the Gravatars of customers who have purchased your product, use the [edd_purchase_gravatars] shortcode, or drag the provided widget into the sidebar of your single download page. You can also show the gravatars of a particular product anywhere on your website using the template tag or shortcode, by passing in the download’s ID.

Using the included [edd_file_names] shortcode you’ll be able to list a download’s file names (not file paths). This is useful for showing customers what is included when they purchase your product. The shortcode also takes 2 parameters, title and ID. Using the ID you’re able to show a download’s file names from another post/page/download.

EDD Favorites is a plugin for EDD Wish Lists that allows your customers to “favorite” downloads. With 1 click a user can instantly add, or remove, a download from their favorites.

What’s the difference between EDD Wish Lists and EDD Favorites?

With EDD Wish lists, you click the “add to wish list” link and choose a list (or create a new one) from the modal window. It also works with variable pricing. EDD Favorites is for quickly adding/removing downloads to a single list with 1 click. It doesn’t support variable pricing, meaning you cannot add a specific price to the favorites list, instead it adds the entire download.
